Supporting students through scholarships is an important part of the mission of the Baylor Professionals Group.

The Brenda M. Morris Baylor Business Network of Houston Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 to support greater Houston area School of Business students and is awarded based on need and merit. Brenda M. Morris retired as senior executive director of the Baylor Alumni Network and as director of the Baylor Business Network. Morris worked for the Network for 11 years, and for the university for 22 years. The endowed scholarship was named after Brenda to honor her service to the University.

About Our Emcee
John Morris (BA '80), Voice of the Bears

In December, 2024, Baylor University became the first school in the nation to have two recipients of the Chris Schenkel Award presented by the National Football Foundation. John Morris followed his mentor, Frank Fallon, in receiving the honor December 10th in Las Vegas. The Chris Schenkel Award recognizes individuals who have had a long, distinguished career with direct ties to a specific university or platform. Frank Fallon was recognized in 2001. Morris worked eight years alongside Fallon beginning in 1987 before following him in the play-by-play chair in 1995. Through the 2024 season, Morris has broadcast 442 consecutive Baylor Football games.

In August, 2024, he was presented the Dave Campbell Award by the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce for contributions to football in Central Texas. He was previously honored with the Frank Fallon Sportsmanship Award named for his mentor from the Waco Chamber in November, 2002.

Morris was recognized by the National Sports Media Association in 2019 as the state of Texas Co-Sportscaster of the year. At Homecoming in November, 1999, Morris was named one of Baylor’s outstanding young alumni.

Morris has also been behind the mic for Baylor Baseball, Softball, Women’s Basketball, Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Equestrian, Track & Field and Acrobatics & Tumbling while also hosting Baylor Coach’s Shows and the Sic ‘em Podcast.

John Morris is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and graduated with honors from Danville (Ky.) High School in 1977. A proud father of three and grandfather of four, Morris is married to the former Terri Melton, a 1985 Baylor graduate. They are the parents of Meagan (35) a Baylor graduate, Maddie (31) a Baylor Nursing School Graduate, and M.J. (27) a Baylor Mechanical Engineering Graduate. The Morris family is active at Harris Creek Baptist Church.
